What is an NGN?
Non Geographic numbers have been used for many years and many people believe they are just for ‘large’ companies, don’t understand the massive benefits they can bring and fail to recognise the unlimited flexibility available.
NGN’s….in simple terms, it’s a telephone number people call. To obtain an NGN you do not need any additional equipment and there is no complicated (or expensive) set up. Anyone can have an NGN – even a home user! You decide where calls are directed when customers call your advertised NGN. It all happens instantly. It could be a simple case of these callers being routed to one of your office telephone numbers – or with CommsProvider – you can have calls routed to different places, at different times with various other strategically advantageous ‘rules’ that we can help you understand.
Take an example – you could advertise one NGN nationally and we can set the routing so that callers that come from different parts of the country are routed to appropriate departments/people directly in your office without the need for any human interaction. It could be for regional accent reasons you may choose to do this (its common!) or one of many other genuine customer advantages you wish to achieve.
An NGN – or range of them – offers you an accurate picture of how your marketing is working too. Imagine you could have a report monthly (or weekly, hourly, or real time), that shows you how many calls you get from each marketing investment you make. Using NGN’s has helped 1000;s of businesses get hold of that previously mythical set of statistics – just how many calls do I get from each advert, mailshot, campaign etc. What would that mean to you?
The range of NGN’s available enable you to determine whether you are going to offer a free call to customers calling you, a subsidised call or standard national calling rate. You would choose strategically what was right for you – certainly a sales campaign would warrant offering the enticement of a free call. Statistics show you will be up to 30% more likely to get a call if you offer a free phone number.
